Please help support your city library
Every gift to the Foundation is a gift in support of the Beaverton Library and the many services, materials, and programs it provides to the community. As a vital city resource, the library is used by adults, school-age and pre-school children, teachers, retirees, business people and others for meeting educational, personal, family and work-related needs, in addition to recreation and entertainment.
But most important to us, your gift helps insure that our children learn to love books and learning in a supportive atmosphere.

Annual Letter
Dear Library Supporter:
This past spring, the Library Foundation was happy to award hundreds of dollars to the winners of the library’s young adult poetry contest. The winners proudly read their poem to the crowd that gathered in front of the library. But it wasn’t about the money for these kids (although they gladly accepted their checks!), because you could see it in their eyes and hear it in their voices that this day was about giving life to their creative souls. This contest was an opportunity to show family and friends that they could excel using their imaginations and creative writing skills. It was an amazing day and I was honored that the Foundation could play such a leading role.
Your generous donation and continued support make this and other programs possible.
As Beaverton approaches the close of yet another year, we at the Foundation reflect on our library’s many successes and milestones and take pride that we can contribute as an important sponsor:
- 2009 was a banner year at the library. Circulation grew to over 2.5 million, an increase of nearly 20% over last year.
- The library had a record turnout for the Children’s Summer Reading Program with 5,647 children signing up.
- Close to 200 parents attended workshops on preparing their children to read.
- Teens love to read in Beaverton. They checked out 25% more items this year over last!
- The Library hosted a variety of cultural programs including “A Glimpse of India”, “Native American Art and Drumming,” monthly foreign film series and workshops for job hunting and resume writing.
Our city library is an essential public resource for our children and our community. Your support can ensure that 2010 builds on the successes that we enjoyed in 2009.
Your contribution is important. We thank you in advance and wish you a wonderful new year.
Yours truly,
Michael Wong
